Hey, long time no see. But I'm glad to return to Substack and see this kind of content from you still. I agree with your takes. I think the band gets an odd amount of hate compared to others in the genre that I think are just as "poppy" when it comes to their sound. But I've loved TMBTE and their prior works, even listened to and enjoyed Sundowning when it first came out, so I'm happy to have been around to watch them grow in popularity. I dislike Even In Arcadia (will probably review it at some point) but even so, it's exhausting how some people just love to hate on them for essentially being a "gateway band." It's nothing new or unexpected, but the negativity of some metal fans can just get so toxic. Though I try to ignore that and appreciate how a lot of different kinds of people can bond over the music of Sleep Token.

Welcome back! And I’m happy one of mine is your first read back. I don’t LOVE Arcadia as well, it’s the weakest of the 4 but a 2/10 review from some critics is just harsh. As well as the argument that they aren’t metal, which they clearly are if we look at their past works. I see only positives of what this band brings to the scene regardless if you are a fan or not.

I’m looking forward to seeing your review on such a divided album! Cheers
